Amazon to delete all Lulu books?

It seems that Amazon is forcing Lulu to stop its paid ‘list your Lulu book’ on Amazon service…

“Effective January 10th 2012, all titles listed under “Lulu Press” in the Amazon Marketplace will be removed”

I guess we can only hope that Amazon will in future automatically give a page to all published Lulu books, for free. But I suspect it may be to do with Amazon not wanting competition for its own print-on-demand service?

PubSlush

PubSlush seems an interesting idea. A refinement on the crowd-sourcing idea, but geared to authors…

The process is simple. First, authors submit ten pages and a summary of their book. Then, we let you browse the submissions based on your preferences. You read a brief overview, and if it strikes your fancy, you click through to read a more in-depth description. If you’re still interested, you read an excerpt. And if that leaves you wanting more, you support it (which is essentially like preordering the book)! You don’t get charged unless the book is published, so there’s no risk.
